Description

A cool breeze stirs the air as the sounds of yipping and barking echoes through the forest. Within a forest clearing, three canines can be seen at play, two quadrupeds, a Midday Lycanroc and Dusk Lycanroc, running circles around an increasingly frustrated Midnight Lycanroc. The biped barks at the orange canine, yapping something clearly profane as the Dusk Lycanroc's vivid green eyes turn a bright red like the biped's, which prompts the Midday Lycanroc to roll her blue eyes.

Before the two aggravated canines can start a fight a humanoid female, an Inkling, orders the two to settle down. The orange wolf Pokémon calms immediately but the red male continues to growl at the orange female. The Inkling boldly, if a bit cautiously, approaches the red Lycanroc with a hand outstretched and ready to block him when she sees the red Pokémon suddenly jerk to the side and look up to the sky. The Inkling looks around and sees the other Lycanroc have also turned to look up at the sky, her eyes soon trail upwards as well.

The sky is painted orange, pink, and purple and the sun was half hidden from view as it continued to sink below the horizon. The Inkling had seen many sunsets before but something in her mind compelled her to keep watching the sky. How many times had she been told to never look directly at the sun? More than enough to know better than to do just that, and yet she didn't feel her eyes burn. The Inkling's vision blurred, white clouds turning to dull orange blobs and the horizon forming a gradient with the sky as the only thing that remained clear in her vision was the setting sun.

And then she saw it, a green glow emanating from the top of the sun. She could hear her Lycanroc begin to howl, although it sounded as if they were far away. Time seemed to slow to a crawl as the green light from the sun grew more vivid, her hearts raced as the green glow intensified and the howling continued to escalate in volume. She wasn't sure if she was imagining things but she could have sworn hearing a fourth howl join the crescendo, the new voice very different from any of her Lycanroc. The howling felt like it reached a deafening peak as the sun finally vanished and a green flash burst from the horizon.

A brilliant green light filled the Inkling's vision and time seemed to stop as an odd sensation, something powerful, coursed through her. As the green flash dissipated the sky's orange hue gave way to deep blue and the Inkling could feel her mind clear, the odd feeling fade, and hear her Lycanrocs' howls quiet down to a familiar volume. Eventually only the Midnight Lycanroc continued to howl into the night as he anticipated the rise of the moon while the female Pokémon turned to look at their trainer. The Inkling was a little light-headed and she could still feel palpitations in her chest but her just cleared mind only had one thought that would not stop lingering...
